Odette makes him work for his happy ending
He is doing it because his priority is work, regardless his feelings for Rory, just like Rory has made. O: I'll answer when somebody decides to make the ultimate sacrifice to Odette to prove his love. It turns out just when you think you're done. Odette rejects him when he fails to express his love for anything other than her beauty. I think he loves Rory, but certainly not enough to describe Odette Lacroix's tireless work for.
